Star-Sparkled Hollywood
Victory Committee Show
America's great emcee George
Jessel headed a star-sparkled song-
studded, laugh-loaded troupe of
brilliant and notable stage, screen
and radio personages from Holly-
wood's screenland at the Treasure
Island Theatre No. 1 on Wednes-
day afternoon, August 30.
Performing before the largest
gathering of Island theatregoers
ever assembled in the spacious
theatre auditorium, the cinematic
revue which included Annie Roonie,
Roddy McDowell, Grace McDonald,
Mary Anderson, William Eythe,
Roy Benson, Joan Blondell, Gracie
Fields, Reggie Gardner, William
Bendix and Carmen Miranda, was
the greatest fun-packed show ever
staged here during the history of
this naval establishment.
No special introduction or tag-
line need be given any single star,
for each has a name which tells the
story of all outstanding and note-
worthy achievements in the field of
art. As the sequence of their
appearances moved smoothly under
the guidance of · emcee George
Jessel, the man who knows all the
letters of show business, the blue-
jackets acclaimed them with hearty
and thunderous ovations. There
