                                                                nation  that  peace  on  earth  can  be
                                                                        the  dim,  not-too-distant

                                                                lent  instructors  and modern  equip-
                                                                ment,  played  a  prominent  part  in
                                                                               this  accomplish-
                                                                               men t  through
                                                                               enabling  naval
                                                                               personnel  to  ac-
                                                                               quire the "know-
                                                                               how",  skill  and
                                                                               confidence   in
                                                                               operating  gyro-
                                                                               compasses, anti-
                                                                               aircraft  g u n s ,
                                                                               fire   c o n tr o 1
                                                                               equipment,
                                                                               rangefinder  op-
                                                                eration;- welding  and  the  arts  of
                                                                cooking  and  baking.  These  trained
                                                                men  return  to  the  Fleet competent
                                                                and  capable  of  doing  a  better  job
                                                                and  thus  hasten the day of victory.
